CBC documentary: The Fifth Estate

Toronto, Canada, 2013 | Media

Two years after Japan’s 3/11 tsunami, CBC created an emotional documentary for the Fifth Estate that sought to capture the current situation in Tohoku region. The opening title for the documentary used images of the tsunami and stunningly sharp photography of the moment of contact between Noriko’s calligraphy brush and the washi paper’s surface. The strong rush of ink through washi fibers perfectly and viscerally illustrated the sense of bold impact and immanent change which swept over Japan that day. The episode is entitled "Second Wave: Nibanme no Nami"
